WRIGHT CITY, Missouri May 1, 2025— AvTask Inc., a leading provider of CH-47 helicopter rotor blade Diagnostic and Repair services, today announced two key milestones enhancing its value to military and commercial helicopter operators worldwide.

AvTask has received designation as a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certified Repair Station, under Air Agency Certificate AVKR434E. In addition, U.S. government customers can now access AvTask’s award-winning CH-47 rotor blade repair services through the company’s new GSA contract #47QSMS24D0017.

“FAA Repair Station approval allows us to expand our capabilities and support both military and commercial clients more efficiently—especially with the 2025 fire season underway,” said Donnie Buchanan, Business Development Manager at AvTask. “Our blade repair process is engineered for longevity and field readiness.”

AvTask’s patented, rotorcraft-specific repair technology is trusted across the globe and distinguishes the company as a true Helicopter Rotor Blade Repair specialist. leveraging decades of expertise dating back to 1992.

“Our core success comes from proven technology focused on weight reduction,” said Jarrod Bax, Engineering Manager. “We use non-intrusive methods to remove water and oil. Each blade is weighed multiple times throughout the process to ensure every repair results in a lighter, more effective blade.”

To date, AvTask has serviced thousands of CH-47 rotor blades for the U.S. Army, 12 allied foreign militaries, and every U.S.-based commercial CH-47 operator.

“We’ve built a strong reputation as the one-stop shop for CH-47 blade repair and now our FAA Repair Station designation allows us to go even further,” said Joe Wilson, President of AvTask. “We can now perform in-depth repairs beyond the U.S. Army Technical Manual, and source FAA-approved replacement parts for commercial customers.”

AvTask began CH-47 blade repair in 2000 and has partnered with Boeing since 2006. The company is the only Boeing-approved vendor for CH-47 blade overhaul and has received over 12 Boeing Supplier Awards for quality and on-time delivery.

Expanding beyond the CH-47, AvTask recently launched repair and paint services for Bell UH-1H Huey rotor blades, further broadening support for legacy and utility aircraft operators around the world.

Avion Q1 2025 News Release (Published On 3/24/2025)

MISSOURI-BASED AVION MANUFACTURING REACHES MAJOR ROTOR-BALANCING MILESTONE, ANNOUNCES NEXT-GEN TECHNOLOGY

WRIGHT CITY, Missouri, March 1, 2025  Avion Manufacturing Inc. (Avion), a global leader in helicopter rotor blade balancing systems, has achieved a major milestone with the delivery of its 500th rotor balancing system. The company also announced the launch of its next-generation Universal Static Balance Fixture (USBF-III), designed for improved efficiency, ease of use and enhanced durability.

Since 1992, Avion has provided industry-leading rotor balancing systems for military and commercial helicopters, originally focusing on the CH-47 Chinook series.

Today, Avion’s Universal Static Balance Fixture (USBF) supports more than 30 different main rotor blade types, while its Virtual Master Blade (VMB) balances over 15 types of tail rotors.

With these decades of experience and innovation, Avion continues to enhance rotorcraft maintenance solutions for global military and commercial operators.

Avion’s new third-generation Universal Static Balance Fixture (USBF-III) offers even greater ease of operation, robustness and serviceability.

Design features of the new USBF-III include:

A more intuitive interface for faster, more efficient balancing.
Interchangeable components to simplify maintenance and reduce downtime.
Enhanced durability to withstand demanding operational environments.
Increased compatibility with a wider range of rotor blades.

“The USBF-III is a game-changer in rotor balancing,” states Jarrod Bax, Engineering Manager for Avion. “We’ve taken our proven technology and refined it to be even more user-friendly, adaptable and cost-effective. This evolution reinforces our commitment to keeping rotorcraft operational with minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.”

Avion will officially unveil the USBF-III at Verticon in Dallas, Texas (March 11-13 2025), and the Army Aviation Association of America’s Mission Solutions Summit in Nashville, Tennessee (May 14-16 2025). Attendees can visit Booth 10535 at Verticon to experience the new system firsthand.

Proven Performance and a Growing Global Presence

Avion’s rotor balancing systems provide unmatched reliability and efficiency, reducing the need for dynamic balancing on aircraft and allowing blades to be replaced individually rather than as a set—saving operators significant time and costs.

Each Avion balance fixture arrives with a fully integrated system, including:

  • A precision-calibrated platform with load cells.
  • A high-speed processing unit with Avion’s proprietary balancing software.
  • An intuitive touchscreen monitor for seamless data input and analysis.
  • Built-in thermal printing for real-time reporting.
  • On Site Setup and Training as needed.

The system is portable and robust, requiring only a single operator and allowing a quick transition between different blade types in just minutes.

Streamlined Procurement with GSA Contract Approval

Acquiring Avion’s industry-leading balancers is now easier than ever.  In 2024, Avion secured a General Services Administration (GSA) contract, simplifying procurement for government agencies and military operators.  Budgeting and acquisition processes become more efficient and accessible as a result.

A Commitment to Excellence and Customer Success

Global clients trust Avion’s rotor balancing technology.  The U.S. Army continues as Avion’s largest customer along with military forces in the Netherlands, UK, Turkey, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, Oman and Colombia.

Firefighting and emergency response operators and agencies, including Billings Flying Service, Los Angeles County Fire Department and Columbia Helicopters along with many other commercial operators, rely on Avion balancers to keep their helicopters mission-ready.

“As a 100% employee-owned company, our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable balancing solutions that improve rotorcraft maintenance,” states Joe Wilson, company President and longtime aerospace engineer.

“We take pride in our exceptional customer service, rapid turnaround times and commitment to innovation.”
